Great way to start my holiday straight from the plane to my favourite restaurant in Broome "The Wharf" for chilli prawns....yum and it was great to feel warm again
Red and Scott on our trip to Mindarie.
Scott took a couple of days off work and we went bush to Mindarie. It is in the middle of no where and very beautiful. No one else around and you need a 4WD to get there. This is Scott's new car and he loves it. Red is an old friend from Bunbury who now lives in Broome.
First catch to the day......there were fish jumping out of the water all over the place as the tide was going out....we had the wrong bait and only got these two in the first 10 minutes!!!
Scott helping Red pull in the big queen fish, there was great excitement.
Scott and Red with the big queen fish we let it go it was very pretty, however we did not know then it would be the last catch of the day!
With the tide going out there are all these little patterns in the sand where there was a shell or rock, I was impressed they looked fabulous. Nature is a great thing. There were all little rock pools and if you sat quietly you would see little clown fish and all sorts coming out from beneath the rocks.
Just as well we had the crispy bread and chops cause our fishing went downhill after the first 10 mins.
Sun setting at Mindari a really beautiful place and a great day
We came back from Mindari to go and see the stairway to the moon. It was 15% bigger this year than ever, however my photo does not do it justice. I saw it years ago and it was nothing like this it was fabulous. Then we had a curry at the night markets. Big day.
This is what I got at the Stairway to the Moon. Sand fly bites, between these and my feet I keep the Broome chemist is some really good business for the next couple of days, I had bites everywhere!
The Mud Crabs
Scott had to go back to work and Red went out and caught these for me. They got 13 on the day. They are big mean suckers. We kept them alive in the sink for 24 hours by which time I had named them all Barney, Betsy and Billy so did not feel like eating them. But when the chilli crabs appeared I could not help myself they were delish. Scotto is always happy and a great host.
Not only is Red a great fisherman he peels the crabs for you...onya Red.
At Reds and Ryans picking me a coconut or two.
Ang and Scott's lush garden I wish things grew this fast down here.
Coby and Eddie looking for the trouble making dogs up the road.
