Trav's birthday lunch at EATON TAVERN 6th October 12

The three of us arrived and it was not very busy so we thought we were in for a great day, after hearing so many good reports about the food. The staff were not at all helpful or friendly. They never brought over the kids menu for Sienna or her colouring in. We decided on a tasting plate and some oysters to start with. That arrived and they never gave us a side plate to eat off until I asked and then only brought two!
The Oysters were the big suckers but I must say fresh and even Trav. tried a couple. The tasting plate was tasty with a couple of dips, some bread sausage, feta and olives. We were chatting and picking away when out she came with our mains, and no where to put them!. We had not finished picking - well we had now thanks to the waitress.! she never said a word just popped the mains down with us making room for the plates!.
Trav and I both had a steak, tomatoes must still be expensive as no sign of any in the salad! The steaks were OK not brilliant.
So I must say even though we had heard such great reviews about Eaton Tavern to me the service was NON existent on a quite day, people had to wait for ages at the bar to get their drink order filled, so all in all not a place I would recommend. It is not cheap pub food so you should expect a pleasant experience.
2 out of 10 for mine! and we will not be going back.
